Short writing assignment -- week 3

This week we have been discussing the possibilities for popular culture to be either repressive or create spaces for expression and freedom. In the short writing assignment for this week, I’m asking you to focus on the latter possibility. In at least one page of writing, describe one situation in which you or someone you know found expressive possibilities or freedom in a pop cultural object. What did they want to express? How did they do it? How was the pop cultural object involved in the expression? What did s/he want to be freed from?
